Parkinsons LSVT Big Certification: Evidence based approach and strategies for learning and neuroplasticity (brain’s ability to change) in treating patients who have Parkinsons. Delivered in a one to one session, designed to help clients apply what they learn in their sessions to their everyday life in having more comfortable and confident movement patterning. For example, how normal movement should feel such as faster walking with bigger steps and arm swings, better balance and trunk rotation. LSVT Big trains people with Parkinsons disease to use their body more normally with both small motor tasks (ie buttoning a shirt) and large motor tasks (getting up from a chair or maintaining balance while walking). People living with Parkinsons move differently with movements and actions becoming slower and smaller. The focus is on recalibrating how they perceive their movements with what others actually see with a lot of repetition & progressive challenges and home practice using “bigger movements” in everyday life. The treatment is customized to each person’s goals so that it’s meaningful to the client and can help no matter what stage or severity of the condition.
